Eligibility Criteria

Interested applicants to study in Hungary with Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships in Hungary to pursue higher study must fulfill the following eligibility criteria;

  • Applicants must have at least 12 year or equivalent education for the bachelor degree applications

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program was initiated by the Hungarian Government in 2013 and has been coordinated since 2015 by the Tempus Public Foundation. The proportion of foreign students enrolled in higher education institutions in Hungary has doubled between 2013 and 2019, and the proportion of Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holders among them has quadrupled.

The number of applicants and award winners for the Stipendium Hungaricum is continually rising, as is the number of available places for scholarships. More than 35,0000 applications were received in 2020 and more than 5000 grants were awarded, demonstrating that the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship has become a program of excellence since its inception. The program is operated by the Foreign and Trade Ministry and coordinated by the Tempus Public Foundation.
