Who can apply for MMoCRA Scholarships?
MMoCRA accepts eligible African nationals who also reside in an African country when they apply. Student applicants enter through Target Group 1 or Target Group 2. Trainees and staff follow narrower institutional rules. Your host country must differ from your country of nationality and residence. Master’s and PhD Applicants
Target Group 1 covers students who study at, hold admission from, or earned a degree from one of the five African consortium universities.
Target Group 2 covers students who study at, hold admission from, or earned a degree from another higher education institution established in Africa.
Trainees and Staff
Trainees must enrol in a bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programme at one of the five African partner universities. An eligible public or private organisation in Uganda, Kenya, Namibia, or South Africa can host the three-month placement.
Staff must work at one of the six consortium institutions, including the University of Twente. Academic, administrative, and technical staff can apply.
You cannot apply if you already received a scholarship under a project selected through the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme 2022–2027. You also cannot use another EU-funded scholarship for the same activity during your MMoCRA mobility.
Mobility Types and Duration
Credit-seeking mobility lets current students complete part of their studies at a partner university and return home to finish the degree.
