Eligibility Criteria for scholarship in Ireland

To apply for the Ireland Fellows Programme 2026–2027, you must:

  • Be a national and resident of one of the eligible African countries (Angola, Burundi, DRC, Djibouti, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe)
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (minimum 2nd Class Honours Grade 1 or equivalent)
  • Have at least 2 or 3 years of relevant work experience (varies by country)
  • Not already hold or be pursuing a Master’s degree
  • Have leadership potential and commitment to national development and SDGs
  • Choose 3 programs from the Eligible Programme Directory
  • Be available to start studies in Ireland from August/September 2026
  • Have not applied more than once to this Programme
  • Most universities require an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher.
