Eligibility Criteria

Interested applicants to study with fully-funded Ph.D. Scholarships must fulfill the following eligibility criteria;

  • Applicants must be from Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zeeland, Canada, Europe, United States, and East Asia.
  • Full-time graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. and enrolled in an institution in one of the regions listed above.
  • Students must remain enrolled full-time in the Ph.D. program for the Fellowship’s duration or forfeit the award.
  • Google employees, and their spouses, children, and members of their household are not eligible.
  • Current undergraduate or master’s students and professionals may apply.
  • Language Requirement: Students must have to fulfill the university admission requirements individually.

In Australia and New Zealand, students must be nominated by an eligible university. Nomination instructions are sent to eligible universities, and submissions must be provided directly by an official university representative.

Canada, Europe, and United States

In the United States, Canada, and Europe, accredited Ph.D. granting institutions in Computer Science or related fields may nominate eligible students during the application period.


North America and Europe

The Google North America and Europe Ph.D. The Fellowship program application window is closed for this year.
Applications for the 2022 program will open on September 1, 2021, and close on September 30, 2021, at 11:59:59 PM PST. Awardees will be notified by January 2022.

East Asia

The Google East Asia Ph.D. The Fellowship program application window is closed for this year.
Awardees will be notified via email by September 2020. Applications for the 2021 program will open in March 2021.
