Eligibility Criteria for PRIME Fellowship in Europe?

To be eligible for the DAAD PRIME Fellowship 2025/26, you must:

  • Have a completed PhD (or expected to complete before funding begins) with excellent results
  • Apply within 6 years of your first PhD completion
  • Have at least one peer-reviewed publication (co-authorship allowed)
  • Choose a foreign country for your research stay, where you haven’t lived/worked more than 12 months in the past 3 years
  • Be committed to building a long-term academic career in Germany
  • Not hold a permanent position at your proposed German host university
  • Not have already received PRIME funding (re-application allowed only once)
